The purpose of the docking station is to charge the batteries in between the vacuuming cycles. The station casts a light beam which serves as a beacon. If the vacuum cleaner senses this light beam during a cleaning cycle, it avoids the docking station. If the battery runs down, the vacuum cleaner heads to the docking station using the light beam to recharge. If you do not have a docking station, you can still manually connect the unit to an outlet using the power supply.

 

On the scheduled times and days, the vacuum cleaner powers itself on and starts cleaning the house. It will not stop cleaning until the battery runs down or the cycle is complete.
